Bags program to benefit HYS in June
St. Philip’s Help Yourself Shelf (HYS), 12 Hodge St., Wiscasset, has been designated to receive the proceeds from the Boothbay Hannaford store’s Fight Hunger Bag program for the month of June. Each time a patron buys a Fight Hunger bag, $1 is given to HYS to help ease food insecurity. With ever increasing costs and more people seeking help from the Shelf, each and every dollar is quickly put to use in that effort.
HYS is open each Thursday from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. for people to access supplemental food. One signs in with the pantry person in the parking lot and then queues up to have a turn receiving a box of basics and an opportunity to select items in the shopping area. Pet supplies and personal care products are also available upon request.
An all volunteer effort, HYS would not be able to function if it weren’t for the many donors and the many people who show up each week to help make it all happen. The Shelf is truly grateful to all who join us in this undertaking.
To find out more about HYS, or to donate or get involved, call St. Philip’s at 882-7184, leaving a message and a return number, or contact us at HelpYourselfShelf@gmail.com or https://www.facebook.com/HelpYourselfShelfFoodPantry/
And when shopping at the Boothbay Hannaford store, 180 Townsend Ave., consider picking up some Fight Hunger bags to help fight hunger.
