Bar Clarke to head The Deck House School
The board of directors of The Deck House School in Edgecomb enthusiastically announces the appointment of Bar Clarke as interim head of school. A 1989 graduate of Marlboro College, Clarke has had a strong association with the school over the past 26 years. From 1989-1992 he worked under school founder Ned Hall as both housemaster and teacher. Clarke then followed in Hall’s footsteps spending three years at the Maru-a-Pula School in Gaborone, Botswana. In 1996 he moved back to Maine to assume the role of assistant head of school and in 2000 was appointed the 3rd head of school, remaining in that position for 4 years.
After shifting his career into the Independent Educational Consultant field, Clarke rejoined the school by becoming a member of the board of directors in 2005. In addition to developing his own consulting practice over the last 12 years, Clarke has also been the program director at a young adult extended care program and executive director of a therapeutic boarding school. Most recently, Clarke assumed the role of director of marketing at The Deck House School.
Working in conjunction with the excellent staff at the school, Clarke will ensure the continuation and expansion of the school's mission so as to meet the demands of the ever changing academic and social needs of the school’s students. Alumni, present and past parents, donors, and our supportive referring professionals are encouraged to contact Clarke with congratulations at bar@deckhouseschool.org or at 207-380-2846.
