Behind the scenes of the How We Met contest
The current Boothbay Register/Wiscasset Newspaper contest has called upon community members to share their love stories in light of the upcoming Valentine’s Day holiday. Voting is open and the couple with the most votes by February 13 will win a free dinner for two.
We’ve had some lovely, heartfelt entries so far. Currently running at the head of the pack are Jason and Melissa Nein.
Melissa writes, “Well, it was August of 1990, just two weeks before I was going back to Connecticut to finish my senior year of high school. I was out shopping downtown one afternoon, and I was rushing back to my car (which was overparked).
“Wouldn't you know, there was that cute meter enforcement guy-standing right in front of my car! He then introduced himself as Jason, and explained that the Boothbay police officers had asked him to look out for a car from NJ that looked just like mine...”
You can read the rest of the Neins’ story and our other entries here, and voting is open (rate each couple from 1 to 10). Think you’ve got a great story? You can still enter.
Unfortunately, the newspaper’s staff members cannot enter the contest, so we let loose on camera with staff videographer/reporter Ryan Leighton.
Reporters Ben Bulkeley and Suzi Thayer describe their “relationship” in this first video. Around the office, these are two of our favorite pranksters. The footage may be disturbing (or hilarious) to many viewers.
Coming soon will be (tamer) stories from Graphic Artist Gary Dow and Advertising Sales Rep Sarah Morley.
