Boothbay Farmers Market begins May 21
The Boothbay Farmers Market starts its season on Boothbay Town Common on Thursday, May 21. It will set up on the Common from 9 a.m. to noon every Thursday through Oct. 8.
Dan Sortwell of Big Barn Coffee, market president, said, “All farmers markets in Maine have changed their market procedures in response to COVID-19 and Boothbay Farmers Market is no exception. We are asking customers to stay home if they are sick; sanitize hands and wear a face covering; practice safe distancing; shop efficiently and/or pre-order; prepare payment and don’t touch food. The Boothbay Farmers Market COVID-19 Community Guidelines, available at the market website and also as a handout during the market, expand on these points. The guidelines were developed by the Maine Dept. of Agriculture and the Maine Federation of Farmers Markets. Our market vendors will be wearing face coverings and will arrange their market space for safe distancing.”
The market has 26 members, all local farmers and artisans. Local business members include Blue Tin Farm in Edgecomb, Boothbay Craft Brewery & Tavern in Boothbay and Mana Medicinals in Boothbay Harbor.
The market has been on Boothbay Town Common for the past 17 years and has become a popular summer attraction.
