Boothbay Region Historical Society kicks off annual raffle
The Boothbay Region Historical Society is pleased to introduce our 2013 raffle. “Coastal Maine,” a colorful limited edition giclée print by local artist, Tony van Hasselt, A. W. S., features the typical scene at Maine lobster docks.
The artist has personally remarqued this piece with an original pencil sketch of the house on the Boothbay Harbor footbridge, making it a one-of-a-kind print. The raffle winner will also receive a gift certificate toward framing from Boothbay Harbor Framers.
He is a member of the American Watercolor Society and a dedicated plein air painter. He sits on the board of the Boothbay Region Art Foundation and is an active participant of the Boothbay Art Colony. Van Hasselt's work is in many private collections and has been featured in numerous art books and magazines.
The actual, remarqued print is on display at the Boothbay Region Historical Society, located at 72 Oak Street in Boothbay Harbor. Similar, unremarqued versions may be seen at Boothbay Harbor Framers at the Meadow Mall and Kaler’s Restaurant adjacent to Pier 8 in downtown Boothbay Harbor. Tickets may be purchased at all three sites.
Watch for our traveling display this summer. BRHS volunteers will be selling tickets at various locations throughout the summer. Please check the “Goings On” section in the Boothbay Register for each week’s schedule.
The society is grateful to van Hasselt and Boothbay Harbor Framers for their generous donations. All proceeds help support the society’s mission to preserve and present local history.
For more information, please stop by the museum Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. or call us at 207-633-0820. Tickets are $1 each, or $5 for a book of six. The final drawing is December 7, 2013. Winner need not be present. Good luck!
