Boothbay/Wiscasset girls track and field posts second place finish
It was a bright start for the Boothbay/Wiscasset girls track and field team April 22. At the first Mountain Valley Conference meet, Boothbay/Wiscasset shined brightly capturing second place out of a seven-team field in Lisbon.
Junior Rose Campbell won three events and sophomore Karen Higgins won two. Freshman Moriah Smith won the triple jump. The team scored 134 points. Madison won with 166. Lisbon finished third with 119.
In the 100M dash, Boothbay/Wiscasset swept with the top three finishers. Campbell won with a 13.76 second mark. Olivia Rittall finished second at 14 seconds and Moriah Smith finished third at 14.02. In the 200M, Campbell won with a 28.4 second time. Moriah Smith finished second at 29.33 and Rittall finished third at 29.34.
In the 400M dash, Higgins won with a one minute, 2.87 second mark. Rittall finished third posting a 1:05.24 time and Campbell was fifth with a 1:10.28 mark.
In the 800M, Boothbay/Wiscasset's Maddie Orchard finished fifth with a two minute, 56.78 mark and Madison's Bryanna Hagopian won with a 2:37.
In the 110M hurdles, Boothbay/Wiscasset's Sophia Mansfield finished fourth with a 53.2 second mark. Emma Woodcook of Monmouth won with a 48.9 second time.
In the 4x100M relay, Boothbay finished third posting a 57.03 second time. Madison won with a 56.08 mark. In the 4x400M relay, Boothbay/Wiscasset finished fourth with a four minute, 53.18 second time. Lisbon won with a 4:41.3 mark.
In the high jump, Boothbay/Wiscasset's Zuriel Smith placed fourth with a four-foot, four-inch mark. Ambrielle Wallace of Lisbon won with 4-8. In the long jump, Boothbay/Wiscasset's Nerla Laventure finished fourth with a 13-foot, 7.75-inch leap. Dakota Estes of Madison won with a 13-11 one.
In the triple jump, Moriah Smith won with a 28-foot, nine-inch mark. Anna Strozier of Boothbay/Wiscasset placed sixth with 28-9. In the discus, Campbell won with an 89-foot throw. Orchard of Boothbay/Wiscasset finished fourth with a 69-6 throw. Zuriel Smith placed fifth with a 68-9 mark.
In the shot put, Zuriel Smith finished sixth with a 23-foot, 7.5 inch throw. Madison Dow of Mountain Valley won with 30-8.25. The team's next meet is at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 29 in Wiscasset.
