BRAF calls for entries for ARTinME show
ARTinME is a statewide juried fine art show open to all Maine artists. This outstanding show is sponsored by the Boothbay Region Art Foundation each fall. This October’s show will feature new and exciting work from Maine’s top artists.
Any artist who has a Maine address is invited to submit up to two paintings, drawings, sculptures or other mixed media pieces. Entry dates for the show are October 15 from noon until 7 p.m. and October 16 from 9 a.m. until noon.
Entries must conform to the following guidelines:
-The maximum size for 2-D work is 4.5 feet in any direction.
-The maximum size for 3-D work is 50 pounds and 3 feet in any direction. Sculptors must provide their own pedestals.
-All work must be hand-delivered.
-The entry fee is $15 per piece for BRAF members and $20 per piece for non-members.
The show will open on Saturday, Oct. 19 with a reception from 5 to 7 p.m. and run through November 3.
The judge for ARTinME this year Joachim Homann, Ph.D. Dr. Homann, curator of the Bowdoin College Museum of Art since 2010, has been in this country at the University of Texas, El Paso, and Colgate University, since 2005. He has degrees in architecture and imagery from Heidelberg University, and studies in art history and media theory from universities in Gottingen, Munich, Heidelberg and the State Academy of Design, Karlsruhe. Homann has curated over 30 exhibitions while in this country and published articles and catalogs for the current exhibition of Maurice Prendergast’s work at the Bowdoin Museum, as well as for Chinese woodcuts, and art from Oaxaca, Mexico.
Boothbay Region Art Foundation trustee, Sally G. Smith said, “We are delighted to have Dr. Homann as our juror for this year’s show. He brings a rich and varied background as well as tremendous skill to the task.”
Homann will select Best in Show, 1st, 2nd and Honorable Mentions to be announced at the reception. Additionally, the Board of Trustees sponsors a “People’s Choice” Award that will be given when the show closes.
