Burnham and Theberge photography show through December
The Southport Memorial Library will have a new exhibition for the months of November and December: the photography of Zoe Theberge of Harpswell and Bruce Burnham of Boothbay.
Zoe Theberge of Harpswell is a photographer that enjoys the outdoors where she embraces all the “nooks of nature that capture her feelings.”
Says Theberge, “The fleeting light that only last a moment as I hope to be there for. The world around me is a special place that I like to see in a unique way. Photography has been a part of my life since a young age. It brings out the creative side of me to share with others. It is an honor to be able to share my photography at the Southport Memorial Library.”

Bruce Burnham is a native of the Boothbay region and began his interest in photography early in his middle school years. He enjoyed photographing friends during field trips and was the photographer for his 8th grade yearbook.
In high school he lobbied for some darkroom equipment for the art department and his love of developing his own film and prints cemented his love of the photographic arts. His inspiration, like for many others, came from Ansel Adams and Edward Weston. What he enjoyed most was their nature work and how they manipulated the light and created great patterns from what they saw.
Burnham spends many early mornings and late afternoons capturing and creating the beauty in the light those times of day. He enjoys breaking down a scene or subject to “create” greater interest. He never attended school for photography but has taken many workshops from professionals like Freeman Patterson, Tony Sweet, John Sexton and Andre Gallant. “They all have helped me get out of the box and become a ‘photographic artist,’” Burnham said.
Burnham has been lucky enough to have his work displayed a some great galleries including the Portland Museum of Art, University of New England Gallery, Harlow Gallery and the Boothbay Region Art Foundation, as well as many local venues. He is currently the chairman of the Maine Photography Show and is always inspired by the thousands of entries in that show.
For the months of November and December, Burnham’s photographs, a number of which were taken on Southport, will be displayed at the Southport Memorial Library at 1032 Hendricks Hill Rd., Southport Island.
Burnham thanks the library for this opportunity.
