Call to artists for new River Arts exhibit, ‘Water/Reflection’
River Arts in Damariscotta is inviting artists to submit work for the Water/Reflection Exhibition. All work is due by 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30. The opening reception is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 5 from 5 to 7 p.m. The exhibition will hang until October 2.
All media, styles and subjects are welcome around the themes of water in any of its forms — from ice cubes to tears, and reflective surfaces. All work entered must be for sale. Wall-hung work size maximum: 60 inches in height, 42 inches in width — and for safety reasons plexiglass or other non-glass option should be used for work over 34 inches, excluding pastels. The artist can submit up to three works. Entry forms are available online and at River Arts.
The juror for the exhibition will be Jacques Vesrey. Jacques Vesery is an artist/sculptor from Damariscotta and has lived in Maine for 20 years.
Striving to create an illusion of reality, his vision and inspiration begins with repetitive patterns derived from the “golden mean” or “divine proportions.” The marriage of pattern, form and proportion conveys a sense of growth from within each of his pieces. Vesrey has lectured on design and concepts within his work in France, Italy, England, Canada, New Zealand, Australia and 28 U.S. states.
