Car chase ends in arrests
Usually, traffic in Wiscasset is seen as a detriment; on Wednesday, it aided the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office as they were able to apprehend a suspect after a short chase.
The Lincoln County Sheriffs arrested two men following a suspected home robbery and two mile car chase on Route 1 south near the Monstweag Flea Market in Woolwich.
The Knox County Sheriff's Office responded to a reported home robbery at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14 in Union. The victim reported to the deputies that a man forced his way into the victim's apartment with a gun, then allegedly struck the victim in the head before forcing him into the bathroom while demanding money and drugs.
One of the victim's friends was present at the apartment, but left with the robber.
Lincoln County Lt. Michael Murphy said the suspects' Nissan sedan was spotted in Wiscasset shortly after 2 p.m. Wednesday in Wiscasset. At approximately 2:30 p.m., the suspect was forced to pull over.
“We were able to box him in with our cars,” Murphy said. “And the traffic coming the other way also boxed him in.”
The two suspects are Paul Milardo, 40, of Thomaston, and David Williams Jr., 24, of Middletown, Conn. The men were taken into custody at Knox County Jail and charged with class A armed robbery, class B aggravated assault, class B theft of drugs and class D theft. More charges might be pending following further investigation.
