Carol Dill
Carol Dill, 77, of Portland, Maine died May 24, 2018 after a brief illness.
Carol was born in Boothbay Harbor, Maine on July 1, 1940.
Carol grew up and attended Boothbay Region schools and lived there until she met her husband, Steve, and they moved to the Portland area to begin their life together. Carol spent many years working as a bookkeeper and later as a substitute teacher, but her real career was as a mom. Carol was always supporting her children’s activities and was often a second mom to many kids in the neighborhood. Carol had a zest for life and enjoyed spending time with friends and family. She was a genuine person and made friends everywhere she went. After her husband passed away, she moved into the Park Danforth where she reconnected with old friends and met new friends and was able to participate in bridge, bingo and other activities on a regular basis.
She was always there for her family. As the family grew, she loved attending dance, cheering, baseball, football, soccer, and basketball events as often as she could. She had a special relationship with each of her grandchildren; over the years she lived with all of them at different times and was able to have special time with all of them that she always cherished.
She was predeceased by her parents, Wilder and Laura Blake, and her husband Stephen.
She is survived by her daughter, Debbie of Portland; her son, David and wife Michelle of Portland; and four grandchildren Sarah, Kyle, Julia and Kevin.
Friends and family are invited to attend a time of visitation from 5-7 p.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at A. T. Hutchins, 660 Brighton Ave., Portland. A brief ceremony will follow at 7 p.m. The burial will be private at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Diabetes Association.
