Carolyn N. Cooper
Carolyn Nancy Cooper, 83, of Boothbay, died July 22, 2017 at Crawford Commons in Union.
She was born Oct. 14, 1933 in Boston to Philip and Nancy Lewis. Carolyn graduated from Boothbay Harbor High School in the class of 1952, and from Westbrook Junior College in 1954.
She worked as a secretary for the secretary of state during the Kennedy Administration. She later worked as a secretary at St. Bede’s Catholic School in Montgomery, Alabama. She worked at Emerson Hospital in Concord, Massachusetts as a medical transcriptionist until she retired.
Carolyn loved gardening, chocolate, and peanut brittle. She sang in the church choir at St. Bede’s Catholic Church in Montgomery, Alabama, St. Elizabeth’s in Acton, Massachusetts, and at Our Lady Queen of Peace in Boothbay Harbor.
She is survived by her husband, Stanley A. Cooper of Boothbay; daughters, Mary Cooper of Shirley, Massachusetts, Constance Bodine of Union, and Kelly Kent of Boise, Idaho; grandchildren, Amanda Kent, Madeleine Bodine, Hannah Cooper, Megan Kent,Grant Bodine, Cassandra Kent and Hamish Bodine.
A graveside service to celebrate Carolyn’s life will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, July 28 at the Wiley Cemetery, Route 27, Boothbay. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Carolyn’s memory may be made to Alzheimer’s Association Maine Chapter, 383 U.S. Route One, Suite 2C, Scarborough, ME 04074.
Arrangements are entrusted to Hall’s of Boothbay, 975 Wiscasset Road,Boothbay.
