Carroll M. Vannah
Carroll M. Vannah, 84, of East Boothbay, Maine passed away peacefully at the Gosnell House in Scarborough on March 28, 2020.
Carroll was born in Damariscotta in 1936 to Kenneth Wilson Vannah and Velma Russell Creamer. He grew up in Nobleboro and attended local schools.
He married Alice M. Poore and together they raised their daughter Cathleen.
For many years Carroll worked as a mechanic/attendant at “Peanut’s” Gulf Station in Boothbay Harbor. He also worked as a custodian at Miles Memorial Hospital and Boothbay Region Elementary School. In later years he enjoyed being the caretaker for several seasonal homes, and especially the Wilson Wilde family summer homes.
Carroll loved his years working with the kids. He had a great sense of humor, an infectious laugh, and was famous for raising his eyebrows and making people laugh. He loved spending time with his family and loved to fish. You could find him on the dock at Ocean Point Marina fishing for mackerel, or pulling in a bass from Adams Pond. He enjoyed trains, loved to travel, and collected coins and model antique cars.
His family will remember him as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Carroll was predeceased by his parents, two sisters, Lorene Heriot and Louise Connelly, and brother-in-law Paul Connelly.
Carroll is survived by his wife Alice M. (Poore) of East Boothbay; daughter, Cathleen Sproul of Gardiner; grandchildren, Alec Farmer of Lewiston and Kyle Farmer of Greene; three great-grandchildren and seven nieces and nephews.
In the interest of public and personal health and safety at this time, a Celebration of Carroll’s Life will be held at Hall Funeral Home and Tribute Center in Boothbay at a later date.
