Patricia Ryan, the first woman to be the editor of a major American weekly magazine and an inspiration to a generation of female journalists, died December 27, 2013 at her home in Boothbay. She was 75.

A celebration of Pat’s life will be held on February 8, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, on Botanical Drive, Boothbay. Father Ray Picard will be officiating the service.
