Chowder lovers wanted
St. Philip’s Church is once again offering its delicious haddock chowder to hungry locals and vacationers alike for the very reasonable charge of $9.50 for adults, $4.75 for children under 12; children under 5, no charge.
Each Monday night, through August 19, St. Philip’s, 12 Hodge St. in Wiscasset, chowder will be served up from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The kitchen crew will be offering up its mouth-watering, rich haddock chowder, or vegetable soup for those who prefer it, combined with homemade corn bread or French bread.
Upon request, there will also be hot dogs or macaroni and cheese available for younger palates.
Reservations can be made by calling St. Philip’s office at 207-882-7184. Leave a message including name, number of adult & children in the party, and a call-back number. The reservations person will be back in touch to verify date and time.
Also part of the meal will be a salad bar with tossed salad makings, many fresh from local gardens, pasta salad, potato salad, ratatouille and three-bean salad, all made fresh each Monday morning by a dedicated crew of volunteers.
Rounding out the menu is what some say is the true highlight of the evening: a dessert table of fresh, home-baked cakes, cookies, pies and Round Top ice cream, as well as a choice of beverage.
The friendly, dining room crew is there to serve and to help the clientele, making for not only a food-filled evening, but also a pleasant one that many look forward to each year during their vacation experience.
