CLC YMCA awarded $10,000 by Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Foundation
Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Foundation has awarded Central Lincoln County (CLC) YMCA a COVID-19 assistance grant in the amount of $10,000. This special grant program is to support non-profit organizations like the CLC YMCA that are helping to provide assistance services and supplies to people in need as a result of this pandemic.
Since the CLC Y facility closed on March 17, CLC YMCA’s Karen-Ann Hagar, Youth, Teen & Outreach director, has been acting as a community navigator by making daily wellness check-in phone calls to members of the community to assess their well-being and connect them to services they are in need of. Hagar is coordinating regular Fill the Y Bus food drives to receive donations toward food relief efforts and pantry support in partnership with Main Street Grocery, the Damariscotta Police Department, and local food pantries. Hagar and Jarod Wescott, coordinator of Marketing for CLC YMCA, have also been key collaborators with local efforts to provide food services to community members in need. Funding from this grant will help sustain CLC YMCA’s outreach work during closure, as well as provide direct funds to purchase supplies for those in need.
