Come for morning popovers and tea in Damariscotta
In April, FARMS began a series of morning cooking classes to be enjoyed with Popovers and Tea, at the Community Kitchen (above the Rising Tide Community Market) in Damariscotta. The cooking class theme for each class has been planned with spring and summer entertaining in mind. Here’s what’s cooking for the next three classes:
May 18: Spinach and Leek Quiche (fresh, locally grown spinach, organic leeks).
June 1: Mini Chicken Pot Pie (local poultry and peas).
June 15: Strawberry Shortcake (local strawberries, cream, home-made shortcake).
In addition, you’ll learn how to make popovers with a simple-to-prepare batter that is the basis for sweet or savory popovers, Yorkshire Pudding and the Dutch Baby (sometimes called a German pancake, a Bismarck, or a Dutch puff).
The classes will be taught by Karen Kleinkopf, FARMS Youth Program Director, and Virginia Hill, FARMS board member. Classes are at 9:30 to 11 a.m. on May 18, June 1 and June 15. The cost of $10 per class includes a generous sampling of the finished products. To register, leave a message (with your name, phone number, and date of class/es) on the FARMS phone at 207-563-1161 or email info@mefarms.org.
