Community garden space filling up at Morris Farm
For going on two decades, Morris Farm in Wiscasset has made garden space for people to “grow their own.” The Margaret Ellis Community Garden was named in honor of one of the founding members of the Morris Farm Trust, the Farm’s Master Gardener Demonstration Garden, and the Heirloom Tomato Project at Wiscasset High School.
Next to Route 27, the Community Garden has plots split into 10-foot by 20-foot sections to rent for the season. The beds are tilled and prepared for the growing season. Gardeners are welcome to grow whatever veggies, flowers, or herbs they desire. Water is nearby and hoses are made available. While not specifically provided, former gardeners have left stakes, fencing and markers that can be used.
Rent for the season is $45 for one bed, 10% off for MFT members. There are only four plots still available at press time, on a first come-first serve basis. Please call 882-4080, email info@morrisfarm.org, or stop in.
