Community Resources Expo Oct. 17
The public is invited to the Lincoln County Community Resources Expo from 1 to 3 p.m., Friday, Oct. 17 at St. Patrick’s Church in Newcastle.
Several local, county and regional service providers will have staff and information available, including Midcoast Maine Hunger Prevention, United Way, 211, Sweetser, Healthy Lincoln County, Tedford Housing, Bridges Home Care, Restorative Justice, Midcoast CAP (MMCA), FAME, Stepping Stone, Knox-Lincoln Soil & Water Conservation, and Achieving Better Health in Lincoln County among others.
The Expo, open to the public free of charge, is sponsored by the Lincoln County Community Resources Coalition and will be an excellent opportunity for families and individuals to learn about the wide variety of housing, elder services, nutrition, early childhood, and other programs offered in the County. There will be a free raffle drawing for heating oil, donated by the Dead River Company, in the afternoon.
The Lincoln County Community Resources Coalition is an ad hoc group of local churches, food pantries, town officials, Spectrum Generations, Habitat for Humanity, Healthy Lincoln County, Boothbay Community Resources, Head Start, United Way, Midcoast CAP, Lincoln County Regional Planning Commission, and others who have been meeting monthly over the past three years to improve communication among the many agencies who provide valuable services in Lincoln County.
The afternoon is part of a full-day event, which starts at 9 a.m. with round table discussions on food insecurity, housing, transportation, substance abuse, and elder issues. The lunchtime guest speaker is Garrett Martin, executive director of the Maine Center for Economic Policy and Newcastle resident. The cost for the morning and lunch is $15 per person and includes a light breakfast and full lunch.
There is no fee for the afternoon Public Expo. To register for the morning and lunch, and arrange for a display table, please email Pauline@tedfordhousing.org. St. Patrick's Church is located at 380 Academy Hill Road, Newcastle.
