Cosmic artist Doug Desjardins exhibit at Gold/Smith Gallery
Gold/Smith Gallery in Boothbay Harbor will be featuring the wonderful, whimsical and joyous paintings of New Hampshire artist Doug Desjardins Sept. 4 through Oct. 15.
Desjardins work is painterly and full of joy. He travels to the central and southern hemispheres often, and his inspirations are the magic he finds in the cultures he exposes himself to.
He paints anything that comes his way: scraps of cast away plywood, skateboards, flotsam and jetsam from hither and yon. Mermaids, motorcyclist princes saving princesses in their towers and other whimsy will sweep the viewers away with its joie de vivre! Desjardins is a cosmic artist with a glorious vision of the better, happier side of life.
Desjardins is a nationally recognized “outsider” artist represented by galleries in New York City, Rhode Island and Los Angeles.
Meet the artist at Gold/Smith Gallery's opening reception of his exhibit Friday, Sept. 5 from 4 to 6 p.m. The reception will also include the new exhibit by New York City photographer David Wolk.
The gallery is located at 41 Commercial Street, Boothbay Harbor, and is open Monday through Saturday 10 to 5 p.m. and Sundays, noon to 5 p.m. For more information, call the gallery at 207-633-6252.
