CTL open house Oct. 27
The Center for Teaching and Learning, a Pre-K–8 independent school in Edgecomb, will hold an open house on Sunday, Oct. 27, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. All members of the midcoast community are cordially invited to tour the school, meet the faculty, and ask questions about the program. We welcome everyone interested in learning more about CTL, including families with children younger than school age, families with a current kindergarten student, families applying for the 2025-26 school year, and families who have already submitted an application.
CTL serves up to 80 children in five groupings: Pre-K–K, 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, and 7-8. CTL draws students from nearly twenty towns to create a loving, close-knit community of families who are committed to excellence in education.
CTL was founded in 1990 by Global Teacher Prize winner Nancie Atwell. The school is a non-profit organization accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). CTL is also a demonstration school, training teachers through internships, seminars, published writing by the faculty, and professional DVDs.
The school is known locally and nationally for its award-winning teaching, research-based methods, outreach to teachers across the United States, relationships of trust between faculty and parents, respect for children, and a program that engages students, challenges them, and prepares them for life beyond CTL. In addition, CTL kids love coming to school every day.
Applications for the 2025-26 school year are due by Feb. 15, 2025, as are tuition assistance applications.
