It was a busy weekend in the Harbor with all of the festivities, including Santa and Mrs. Claus coming by boat at the Whale Park. It’s always so much fun. I saw families having horse rides to the wonderful Opera House looking at the beautiful Festival of Trees. I said it once or twice – we are truly blessed to live here on our peninsula.

This three-ingredient dessert is so simple but always a crowd pleaser. I give 100% credit to my twinners; they came up with this recipe and always bring them to Thanksgiving or to Christmas parties. I brought them to a Christmas party and everyone wanted me to write about them this week.

Cuties – clementines or tangerines – I like using cuties because they are seedless and are very easy to peel. Ingredients include whatever small orange of your choosing, chocolate and kosher salt – that’s it. The only tricky part is melting your chocolate. I like dark chocolate but to be honest I use whatever is in my drawer or pantry. You could go to the trouble of using a double boiler but I use the microwave. All you have to do is keep an eye on it. Microwave it for one minute, take out your chosen chocolate, stir, then hit it again if needed.

Now, how many you make will determine the amount. If you want to make enough for 20 people, you will use 8 ounces of chocolate chips or one candy bar. I always put my chocolate in a good Tupperware plastic container.

Peel 10 cuties, microwave your chocolate and have a little side dish of kosher salt handy. While making these, you want to use your parchment paper on a cookie sheet. They will have to sit in your refrigerator or this time of year being outside for about 30 minutes does the trick. You only dip half the cuties in the chocolate. Place on your cookie sheet covered with parchment paper then add three to four grains of kosher salt. Yum! Most agree that you will not be bringing home any leftovers.
