David Reed
David Reed died June 7, 2018 at Maine General Medical Center in Augusta, Maine.
He was born the son of George and Ida Dickinson Reed on May 19, 1922 in Boothbay Harbor, Maine.
Dave graduated from Boothbay Harbor High School in 1940. He served in the United States Army and proudly represented his country in World War II. After returning from the war he worked for many years at the Central Maine Power Company as a lineman, retiring in 1983. Following retirement he operated his own electrical business in the Boothbay Harbor area with his son David.
He and his wife Joan enjoyed raising their children Julie, David and Mary Beth and spending summers in Boothbay Harbor and the winters in Largo, Florida. Besides his strong love for his family he also loved golf. A game he played as often as possible. David was a member for over 50 years in both the Lions Club and American Legion organizations.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Muriel Tibbetts Reed, his second wife, Joan Barter Reed, and their son, David.
He is survived by his daughter, Julie Butler of Largo, Florida; daughter, Mary Beth Coniff and her husband Greg of Oakland, Maine; granddaughters, Katherine Reed, Kristina Cassino, Rebecca Coniff and Lauren Coniff; and great granddaughter, Olivia Lewis.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at 1 p.m. at Hall’s of Boothbay, 975 Wiscasset Road, in Boothbay, with interment to follow at Ocean View Cemetery in Boothbay.
Arrangements are entrusted to Hall Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 975 Wiscasset Road, Boothbay.
