Candidates for Wiscasset’s new school committee have until December 5 to get their nomination papers in to the town office.

Elections are January 7, in an expedited process as the town prepares to leave Regional School Unit 12 on July 1, 2014.

The committee will have five seats, the same number the town had on its prior school committee before joining the district. Terms will be staggered, with one running out June 10, 2014; two ending June 8, 2015; and the other two on June 14, 2016.
