Diane J. West
Diane J. West, of Wiscasset (formerly of Boothbay), died peacefully on Feb. 12, 2025 after several years of declining health.
Diane was born on June 13, 1950, to Carlene (Young) and Percy Barter Jr., on Vinalhaven. Her Dad was stationed there while serving in the United States Coast Guard. They later moved to Boothbay (Percy’s home town), where she attended local schools and graduated with the Class of 1968.
The day after graduating high school, she married John West and together they shared 56 years of marriage.
Diane was extremely talented with arts and crafts. She enjoyed sewing, stenciling, flower gardening, and had a real knack for floral designing. She worked several years at Boothbay Region Greenhouses which she thoroughly enjoyed.
When she and John retired, they moved to Zephyrhills, Florida. She loved playing golf and enjoyed the friendships she made while living 14 years in the warmth of the sun.
In the spring of 2021, they returned to Maine and resided in Wiscasset.
Diane will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her. She was kind, caring and extremely generous. If you were fortunate to call her your friend, you were truly blessed.
Diane was predeceased by her parents, in-laws Curtis and Dolly West, brother in- law Leo Pinette as well as other family members.
She is survived by her loving husband John; sister Dolores Pinette of Georgetown; niece Tracie Overlock; nephew Dale Pinette and two great-nieces, Addison White and Sophia Moore, and great-nephew Andrew White. She loved her family deeply.
She also leaves behind her best friend, Lynn Martin of Southport, a friend she cherished like a sister.
Per Diane’s request there will be no service.
