Dinosaurs gone wild and human-robot mind games
The Harbor Theatre
“Far From the Madding Crowd” is based on Thomas Hardy’s classic 1874 novel. This is the story of independent, beautiful and headstrong Bathsheba Everdene (Carey Mulligan), who attracts three very different suitors: Gabriel Oak (Matthias Schoenaerts), a sheep farmer, captivated by her fetching willfulness; Frank Troy (Tom Sturridge), a handsome and reckless sergeant; and William Boldwood (Michael Sheen), a prosperous and mature bachelor.
Last screening of “Far From the Madding Crowd” is Wednesday, June 10 at 7 p.m.
“Jurassic World” begins a two-week run on Thursday, June 11. Twenty-two years after the events of Jurassic Park, Isla Nublar now features a fully functioning dinosaur theme park, Jurassic World, as originally envisioned by John Hammond.
After 10 years of operation and declining visitor rates, in order to fulfill a corporate mandate, a new attraction is created to re-spark visitor interest, which backfires horribly. Stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard and Vincent D'Onofrio.
“Jurassic World” plays at 7 p.m. June 11-25 and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 14 and 21.
The Harbor Theatre is located at 185 Townsend Avenue in Boothbay Harbor, across from Hannaford. For more information, call 207-633-0438 or visit www.harbortheatre.net.

“Ex Machina” is Alex Garland’s slyly spooky futuristic shocker about old and new desires and the relationships that bind together a robot called Ava (a terrific Alicia Vikander), the software zillionaire who created her (Oscar Isaac), and a visitor (Domhnall Gleeson) who’s seriously out of his depth.
“Ex Machina” plays at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 12, Saturday, June 13, Monday, June 15, Tuesday, June 16 and Thursday, June 18; at 2 and 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 14 and Wednesday, June 17.
