Dr. Nick Record to speak on climate change in Midcoast Maine
On Sunday, Feb. 3, Dr. Nick Record, senior research scientist at Bigelow Laboratory, will speak on what climate change means for Wiscasset and Midcoast Maine. The program sponsored by the First Congregational Church of Wiscasset’s Church in Society Committee will be held in the church Fellowship Hall at 11:30 a.m. An open question session will follow Dr. Record’s talk. Soup and bread will be served.
Dr. Record, an oceanographer and ecologist, has worked on short-range forecasting, such as predicting the migration patterns of whales, as well as long-range forecasting, such as investigating the way ecosystems will respond to climate change. Ocean biogeochemistry and climate change is one of the three core themes of Bigelow Laboratory, whose 60,000 square-foot campus is in East Boothbay, Maine on the Damariscotta River Estuary.
Dr. Record’s talk is open to the public. For further information, please call the church at 882-7544.
