Dresden Fire Department members will meet every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in the Pownalborough Fire Station. You can check he roster on the first Wednesday of the month for any training that will be scheduled. Truck and station maintenance will be done each week. All members are urged to participate. New members are a welcome edition to our department. Through donations from the Dresden Sno-Valley Riders SC, bottle and can returns, donations from individuals, fundraising events and a donation from the former Eastern River Ridge Runners ATV club we were able to raise enough money to purchase the six-wheel UTV that will be an added piece of equipment to give us a quicker response when it comes to woods fires in areas that regular apparatus cannot go, searching for lost people or help in rescues.

We will still be raising additional money to purchase a trailer and for special equipment that will be used on the UTV. If you would like to donate, you can do so at the Town Office. Please specify it is for the UTV fund. Thank you so much to everyone that made this possible.

Comp plan

Dresden Comp Plan Committee members will hold a workshop on Tuesday, Jan. 20 at 6:30 p.m. in Pownalborough Hall. We will be working on the drafts and issues that were discussed with Mr. Faunce last month. We will also discuss when we want to have an Open Public Forum. All members are urged to attend.

Historical society

Dresden Historical Society will have their meeting on Sunday, Jan. 11 at 2 p.m. in Bridge Academy Library. As there was no meeting in December, we will refer to the minutes from the November meeting. All members are urged to attend, if possible, so we can begin plans for the upcoming year.

Sno-Valley Riders

Dresden Sno-Valley Riders SC members will meet on Tuesday, Jan. 13 at 6:30 p.m. in the Old Dresden Town House. Welcome to new Supporting Business members which includes, Dresden Take Out, Eastern River Marine Services, Meetinghouse Market and Ship’s Chow Hall. We hope you will have the chance to support these local businesses.

Although, even though we haven’t had any snow, as yet, we are hoping that it will come soon. Memberships are coming in slow, but we welcome anyone who has a love of winter. Our meetings are always open to the public. If you want info on memberships and what they cost, call 207-737-2566. We will have refreshments and the Pot-O-Gold will be $25.
