Early November classes at adult ed
During the first week of November at Boothbay Region Adult Ed you can take a class to make a Felted Flower Pin, improve your computer skills in Advanced Excel, or get tips on how to Take Great Photos. If you enjoy fishing you'll want to take Learn to Tie Your own Flies. Don't forget to register early so you don't miss out on a class you want to take.
If you are comfortable with using the settings and functions on your digital camera, or have taken Leisha MacDougall’s basic class, and want to learn more about improving the quality of your photos ... Taking Great Digital Photos is for you! We will explore the implications of contrast, lighting, and shapes. Experiment using what you've learned to take photos and get feedback. This two evening class is on Tuesday, November 3 and 5, 6-8 pm., and the fee is $30. Bring your digital camera with fresh batteries to class.
Many anglers find it enjoyable to spend winter months tying their own flies. Learn to Tie Your Own Flies is a four session workshop that will teach you how to tie wet flies, dry flies, nymphs, and streamers. The essential procedures for tying flies will be demonstrated. You can purchase a basic fly tying kit, at many retail sporting goods stores, by mail order or online or just come and watch. The class meets on Tuesday and Thursday, November 3-13, 6-8 p.m. The fee is $45.
Come make a beautiful, unique Felted Flower Pin! Join Susie Stephenson to learn hooking and proddy with a small pin. This textile technique transforms wool into colorful pieces of art. These flowers look fabulous decorating a jacket, a necklace, a cuff, or a bag. The class is on November 4, 6-8 p.m, and the fee is $14, plus an $8 materials fee paid to instructor on class night.
In Advanced Excel on November 3-4 and 5 you'll learn how to build more complex spreadsheets and use advanced formulas. You'll work with functions calculate dates, times, pivot tables, and create charts and learn shortcuts. An essential class if you use Excel in the work- place or job hunting Prerequisite: Experience w/ Excel/Basic Excel class. The time is 6-8 p.m., and the fee is $38.
