‘Earth, Water, Sky’ opens at River Arts
River Arts presents the annual exhibition devoted to “Earth, Water, Sky.” Juror David Little selected the artworks in this robust exhibition that draw inspiration from the many landscapes of Maine. The public is invited to an opening reception on Saturday, Aug. 5 from 2 to 4 p.m. Many of the contributing artists will be in the gallery to celebrate this joyful show. Light refreshments will be provided for this afternoon of conversation and art.
159 Maine artists submitted works and Little selected 90 artists to be included in this show. The exhibiting artists have captured their personal interpretations of earth, water and sky culminating in a stunning display of work. This show reveals the many aspects of nature and the human presence in nature at its finest. From tranquil tide pools and harbors to roaring oceans, back woods, fields and sky, “Earth, Water, Sky “ runs the gamut of introspective beauty and raw power of Maine’s ever-changing moods. “Earth, Water, Sky” runs from Aug. 1 through Sept. 2.
In conjunction with the opening of “Earth, Water, Sky” in the main galleries, a solo show of Roben Voigt’s’s work opens in the River Room. This delightful show, “All God’s Creatures -And Then Some,” features Voigt’s recent exploration using primarily found materials into unique sculptures which exude a playful and whimsical energy. This one of a kind show runs through August 22.
