Edgecomb Fire Department July report
The Edgecomb Fire Department responded to 15 calls between July 1 and 15.
On July 1, the department responded to a fire alarm on Shore Road triggered by an overhead leak. Firefighters discovered water had entered smoke detectors, triggering the alarm. Firefighters removed the smoke detectors and advised building management to repair or replace the damaged units.
On July 3, firefighters removed a dead deer found near the town line on Route 27.
On July 7, firefighters responded to a medical emergency on Giles Road. Respondents checked the patient before assisting in transport to hospital.
On July 9, firefighters responded to a car accident on River Road in Boothbay. Firefighters arrived and determined the accident was property damage only. Respondents stayed until a Boothbay crew arrived.
On July 22, firefighters cleaned an oil spill from a disabled car on Eddy Road. Respondents applied speedy dry and swept up remnants. The responders stayed on scene until the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department and a wrecker arrived.
On July 24, firefighters responded to a deer and car collision on Dodge Road. Respondents determined the car had minimal damage and could be driven.
On July 26, firefighters responded to an emergency call on Mill Road where a patient needed assistance after falling and receiving a head laceration. Respondents treated patients prior to Wiscasset EMS service arrived. Later, firefighters supplied traffic control to a two-car accident on Routes 1 and 27. Respondents determined the accident was property damage only.
On July 27, firefighters provided traffic control for two accidents and one medical emergency. The first call was a for a two-car accident on Routes 1 and 27, with property damage only. The second call was for a one-car accident on Old County Road. A vehicle struck a utility pole’s guy wire and snapped off the pole’s top before proceeding into the woods. The driver refused medical treatment. The vehicle was towed. Respondents provided traffic control. Later, firefighters responded to a medical emergency on Cochrane Road. Respondents evaluated a patient who fell down stairs. The patient was transported to a hospital.
On July 30, firefighters responded to two medical emergencies. The first was on Dowdy Lane for a patient with a swollen leg. The patient was transported to a hospital. The second was on Shore Road. Respondents assisted a patient who fell and couldn’t get up.
On July 31, firefighters responded to three calls, the first one to assist a person on Shore Road needing a lift. A second Shore Road resident reported having no strength in legs. Respondents assisted with loading the patient into an ambulance for transport to a hospital. The third call was for a two-car accident on Routes 1 and 27, property damage only. Respondents provided traffic control.
