Edgecomb nods deck remodel
Malcolm Goeschl received the Edgecomb planning board's approval Thursday, Feb. 21 to remodel the deck and portions of his house at 5 Clifford Road.
The attorney and San Francisco resident plans to slightly increase the footprint of his home to 20 percent of the lot size, which will remain within the town’s code. The home is within 250 feet of the water but not within the 75-foot limit for shoreland properties.
Goeschl shared his plan to add a deck and raise the roof four to five feet on one section of the house. Less than half of the overall roof would be raised and the work will include a new dormer and a second floor deck.
He would eventually like to move to Maine. Goeschl said he is in Maine about half of the year. Framing for the deck began earlier and Goeschl explained he was not aware that planning board approval was needed. “I want to do what’s right,” he told members.
The board unanimously approved the application and plans.
