Edgecomb receives safety grant

Edgecomb's Assistant Fire Chief Lawrence Omland announced June 21 that the town has received a $1,461.27 grant for traffic safety signs and cones. The Safety Enhancement Grant was awarded by the Maine Municipal Association.
The grant is intended to cover two-thirds of the town's costs for signs and cones.
The Maine Municipal Association has been awarding safety grants to members of its Workers' Compensation fund since 1999.
Ed MacDonald, Loss Control Manager for MMA, said the program received 152 applications for this grant period and $153,068 was awarded. Grants are awarded in May and October each year.
