Edward Judd and his passion for music
A familiar face from the Hallowell Community Band will stop by Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library for the first Author Talk of the spring season. Edward Judd, a jack-of-all-instruments in the Hallowell band, has dedicated his life to music, both playing in musical groups and during a prolific teaching career. His many experiences with music were the inspiration for his newest book, Three Music Stories from Maine.
Judd’s Author Talk, slated for Saturday, March 22 at 10:30 a.m., will take place in the Library’s Great Room. During his talk, Judd will discuss the stories in his new book and will take time to answer questions about the book and about his storied career. Copies of Judd's book will be available for purchase and he will sign copies at the conclusion of the event.
"Three Music Stories from Maine," Judd’s second book, was published in the summer of 2024 and contains three fictional stories in which the main character is a music teacher. Many of the scenes in the book reflect events from Judd's 46-year career teaching music including tenures in Lisbon, Lewiston and Auburn.
In the first story, "Soulmate Lost," Phillip has a recurring dream about a girl that he comes to regard as his Soulmate. It never occurs to him that he may meet her in real life. The second story, "Whitecaps of Evergreen Lake," revolves around Evan, who wants to buy the family cottage on Evergreen Lake from his stepmother. But his plan becomes more complicated when his teaching position is jeopardized due to budget cuts. The third story, "Transitions of a Band Director," takes place during the COVID pandemic in which teaching and other health problems cause Eric to make major adjustments in his teaching and personal life.
All are welcome at this free, community event. Gather to listen to this esteemed former teacher share his passion for teaching, writing, and music.
