Exhibition On Screen Series returns to Harbor Theater
Harbor Theater’s new season of the much-admired Exhibition on Screen art series opens this Friday. Don’t miss the opportunity to visit (on screen) the most significant recent exhibitions of world-renowned artists without leaving Boothbay Harbor.
“Goya: Visions of Flesh and Blood” (1 hour, 30 minutes) opens the season at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 20. Discover Spain’s most celebrated artist with this cinematic tour de force based on the National Gallery’s must-see exhibition “Goya: The Portraits.” Francisco Goya is considered by many to be the father of modern art. Not only a brilliant observer of everyday life and Spain’s troubled past, but he was also a gifted portrait painter and social commentator par excellence. Goya takes the genre of portraiture to new heights and his genius is reappraised in this landmark exhibition at The National Gallery, London. Directed and filmed by David Bickerstaff, Produced by Phil Grabsky. One show only!
“Director David Bickerstaff peppers his lively narrative with the insights of curators, painters, and historians, able storytellers all.” – Andrea Gronvall, Chicago Reader
The EOS season continues next month with the latest blockbuster exhibition “Klimt and The Kiss.” “The Kiss” by Gustav Klimt is one of the most recognized and reproduced paintings in the world. Delving into the details of real gold, decorative designs, symbolism and simmering erotica, a close study of the painting takes us to the remarkable turn of the century Vienna when a new world was battling with the old.
