‘Extra Helping’ event for United Way October 24
Midcoast residents are encouraged to eat locally on Thursday, Oct. 24, to support United Way’s annual “Extra Helping” event. Sixteen generous Midcoast restaurants have agreed to donate a portion of Thursday’s revenue to United Way to help fund programs for our neighbors.
“We're pleased and honored to provide this support for United Way,” said Cheryl Rust of Le Garage restaurant. “Their organizational work, as well as the critical funding they provide to a broad range of non-profit agencies in our communities, extends needed and valuable support to our neighbors and friends.”
Local restaurants participating in the event are Le Garage, Miles Memorial Hospital Café, and Sarah’s Café & Twin Schooner Pub, as well as several restaurants in the Bath/Brunswick area. Check United Way’s website at www.uwmcm.org for an updated listing of participating restaurants.
Over 6,000 residents of Lincoln County were helped by United Way funded programs last year. These programs include, Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Mid-Maine, Spectrum Generation Meals on Wheels, New Hope for Women, Tri-County Literacy, Habitat for Humanity/7 Rivers Maine, ElderCare Network of Lincoln County, Healthy Kids, Mobius Inc., and a number of other local agencies. Eating locally on October 24 will provide help locally.
This year’s United Way fall campaign ends November 13, and has a goal of $1,930,000. Donations can be sent to United Way of Mid Coast Maine, 34 Wing Farm Parkway, Bath, ME 04530.
