Farrin is the right person for District 47
Dear Editor:
Wayne Farrin has served his community of Jefferson and Lincoln County for over 30 years. He is a small business owner and realtor, and an active community volunteer. He has spent 20 years on Jefferson’s budget committee coached softball at Lincoln Academy and has been a member of the Damariscotta Chamber of Commerce, former board member of the Damariscotta YMCA, member of the Lincoln Academy Advisory Council, and member of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Citizen Advisory Panel. He knows a lot about what is needed, especially in small rural communities.
Like many Mainers, Wayne juggles multiple jobs. During the day he is showing homes as a listing agent, and later in the afternoon, he is running the register at the Jefferson Market & General Store, a business that he and his wife resurrected during covid and co-own. The store provides important local access to basic food and services and has become a popular community gathering place.
As a realtor, Wayne hears what buyers want and what needs to improve. Some of the first conversations he has with prospective buyers are about the quality of the public schools, paved roads, law enforcement, and access to the nearest grocery store. He sees serious gaps that need immediate attention. Top of his list is rebuilding local roads, not merely re-paving them occasionally.
Wayne also knows firsthand about housing shortages. Many people call his office every day looking for homes in a price range they can afford within a working family’s budget. He considers affordable housing essential if we are to attract and retain much needed workers and create economic opportunity for everyone.
Wayne’s wide work and volunteer experience enables him to see what is important to his community and to the district. We are lucky to have him as a candidate. Please join me in electing Wayne Farrin as our next state representative in District 47.
