Final Wiscasset Art Walk
Wiscasset Art Walk will close its inaugural season with quite a splash on its final walk of the year, Thursday, September 26, 5-8 p.m.
This month’s featured artists dazzle with rich textures, vivid colors and unique designs. They are the spellbinding paintings of Alna artist Jon Luoma and the gorgeously hand-crafted, Asian-inspired jackets of Wiscasset’s own Christine Hopf-Lovette.
Wiscasset Art Walk is very pleased to welcome Luoma, a superb painter, to the ever-growing roster of masterful artists who are participating in Wiscasset Art Walk. Winner of several Juror’s Choice and Peoples’ Choice awards, he has exhibited locally at the Tidemark Gallery in Waldoboro in 2011, at Skidompha Public Library in Damariscotta in 2012, and at Miles Memorial Hospital this year.
His original illustrations for a 1998 limited letterpress edition of Thoreau’s “The Maine Woods” are in the collection of the Portland Museum of Art. During Wiscasset Art Walk, Luoma's work will be at Mac’s Place on Main Street.
Across the street, at Sylvan Gallery, you will find another local favorite and Wiscasset Art Walk featured artist, Christine Hopf-Lovette. She designs and creates beautiful kimono-style jackets. Hopf-Lovette's love of collage and quilting inspire each one-of-a-kind creation. Combining unique selections of fabric and colors with perfect needle craft enables her to create fanciful jackets that truly capture the eye and please the soul. Hopf-Lovette's exquisite art form is as old as the ages; don’t miss this opportunity to see her extraordinary work.
This final installment of Wiscasset Art Walk promises to be quite a sensation thanks to these featured artists of the month and to the general momentum building around the Art Walk events this season. The “prettiest little village” has been so alive in the arts this summer thanks to the Wiscasset Art Walk bringing all the area has to offer in history, visual arts, music, community and culture together for a special celebration one night each month.
Don’t miss this last Art Walk of 2013 in downtown Wiscasset. Shops, galleries and studios will be open late and serving up hospitality for all Art Walkers. It will be a fabulous ending to a fabulous season.
Major Sponsors for the Wiscasset Art Walk season are The First, Carleton Realty, and Wiscasset Ames True Value. Additional sponsors include Big Barn Coffee, Fogg Art Painting Restoration & Custom Framing, and Sheepscot Harbor Village and Resort.
