The First Bancorp elects new chairman
Daniel R. Daigneault, President and Chief Executive Officer of The First Bancorp, holding company for The First, recently announced that David B. Soule Jr. has been elected to serve as Chairman of the Board for both the Company and the Bank.
“On behalf of the management team and all of our associates, I welcome David Soule into this new leadership role. I am certain that Mr. Soule will lead our board in the strategic direction that maximizes The First’s full growth potential in the years ahead,” Daigneault said.
Soule has served as a Director of the Company and the Bank since 1989. He has chaired the Company’s Audit Committee for the past twenty years. Soule is succeeding Chairman Stuart G. Smith, who was elected Chairman of both the Company and the Bank in April 2007. Smith will continue to serve on the Board of Directors.
Soule has been practicing law in Wiscasset since 1971 at Soule, Soule & Logan. His law firm focuses on real estate, including land conservation, bank financing and real estate closings; in addition, he deals with trusts and estate planning and represents small businesses.
He is a member of the American and Maine Bar Associations, and a member and past President of the Lincoln County Bar Association. Soule is a former Public Administrator for Lincoln County, and he served two terms in the Maine House of Representatives.
Soule is currently a Director of the Maine Wilderness Watershed Trust and a Trustee of the Morse High School Scholarship Fund. Previous civic leadership roles include: Director of the Bath Area YMCA and the Coastal Economic Development Corporation; Selectman, Town of Westport; Chairman, Town of Westport Planning Board; Trustee of the Wiscasset Public Library; and Director and Officer of CCA Maine.

Soule was born in Augusta and graduated from Morse High School in Bath. He also received degrees from Phillips Exeter Academy, Bowdoin College, and Boston University Law School. He currently resides on Westport Island with his wife, Patricia J. O’Reilly. They have two grown children, Tyson and Erika Soule.
