5 good things a month
In 2025, look here monthly for five good things that happened in or for Wiscasset or its neighbor towns. Had this idea come in '26, it would have likely been six good things, and still can be then. But as a pilot theme, five is plenty to start with and sets the pattern of the number of noted items reflecting the year we are in.
We are only mid-January, but since this mini project involves you, too, let's get it rolling with just a couple of good things as examples, which may be reused or replaced by the end of January tally.
Evan Goodkowsky, a new Lincoln County commissioner who may be best known to readers for his efforts with others helping Wiscasset and other towns make gains on broadband, has won a photo contest. We heard about it from Maine State Lottery this week. Congratulations on the win, the nice photo (see page 4 or wiscassetnewspaper.com), and on that recognition also being our first example of good things that happen in a month here.
Next up is Alna selectmen's Jan. 2 resolve to start early this time on finding someone or a group of someones to nominate for the Spirit of America award. According to the discussion, Alna missed a window last time and town officials are now taking residents' recommendations on the next honoree. New year, new start!
Email news@wiscassetnewspaper.com soon to propose your something good that happened this month in or for the Wiscasset area!
