Forcing changes in Alna
Dear Editor:
I have lived in Alna all my life. I’ve known a lot of selectmen, and have worked closely with more than a few. I came to respect some of them for their commitment to our common good, and I appreciated the hard work they did for the benefit of all of us.
Never did I think we would be better off if we messed with the way we elected selectmen or changed their terms of office or duties. We need a strong first selectman, properly compensated for that important job.
It has always been the people’s job to choose the leader of our board, the first among equals. Why are two people who have never served so interested in forcing the changes they present in article 4?
