Former Wiscasset man charged in baby assault
Waldoboro police arrested Tylor Miller, 18, formerly of Wiscasset, on June 22, for allegedly assaulting a 6-month-old child.
Miller is the boyfriend of the child's mother, Waldoboro Police Chief Bill Labombarde said June 24.
Miller, formerly of Birch Point Road in Wiscasset, was charged with two counts of felony assault on a child under the age of 6, and a charge of violating a condition of his release in another case.
A Lincoln County grand jury indicted him in May, on burglary and theft charges. Those stemmed from alleged February incidents at two Wiscasset properties.
The Waldoboro police investigation began June 19, after the Maine Department of Health and Human Services received an anonymous referral, Labombarde said. There are two assault charges because police believe the child's injuries were consistent with two separate events, the chief said.
The child was examined by medical personnel at Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta and later Maine Medical Center in Portland, according to a Waldoboro Police Department press release. The child has since been released, Labombarde said; he declined to give details on the child's condition.
Miller remained at Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset June 25, in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $100,000 surety.
