Freda E. Jones
Freda Elizabeth Jones (1934-2023), born in Woolwich, Maine to Milton and Gladys Hathorne, recently passed away peacefully in her sleep after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease, which she fought through as bravely as everything else she did in her life.
Freda was an incredibly hard worker with a vibrant personality who gave selflessly to her family whom she loved with all her heart. She was well known for her many years working at Huber’s Market/Restaurant (as well as many other local favorites) and particularly for making the “best mudslides in Maine” at the Boothbay Region Lobsterman’s Co-op. She also was well known as a talented artist and craftsperson. She loved watching sports, dancing to live music, practical jokes, and going up to camp.
She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend to everyone she met. There was no kinder, tougher or funnier lady in the world and she will be missed by everyone she knew. We are sure she is in heaven with her beloved son Ben, smiling and sharing a joke (probably about us).
Thank you to the kind hearts and caring folks at Dionne Commons Assisted Living for the care they provided. She will always be in our hearts and memories. Rest in peace, we love you.
She was predeceased by her brother Leon Hathorne, her former spouse Carroll F. Jones, and her son Carroll “Ben” Jones.
She is survived by her sister Della Dalton; her children and their spouses, Karen and Richard Delano, Mark and Debbie Jones, Christopher and Tina Jones, Kelly and Sherri Jones, Melissa and Marc Bosse; her daughter-in-law Cindy Jones; as well as 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to a Parkinson’s research foundation.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at the Wiscasset Community Center on Sunday, June 4 from 1 to 3 p.m.
