Free Boothbay screening, discussion on substance use disorder

What do you do when a loved one is lost in the chaos of addiction? For many, it’s a question that desperately needs answering, but it can be hard to find help.
Damariscotta artist Peter Bruun faced this question while his daughter Elisif struggled and really dug into it after she died of an overdose 10 years ago. One result of his exploration is Elisif’s Story, a powerful 36-minute documentary chronicling her life and death from substance use disorder. Join him and area experts for a free screening of the film followed by an open, hopeful discussion on local resources and emerging treatment options.
The event includes:
--Screening at 5:30 p.m.
--A display of Elisif’s art
--Local experts in treatment, harm reduction, and crisis response
--Finger food and refreshments provided by the Community Resource Council (CRC)
Panel members include State Representative Holly Stover, Lauren Hunt (MaineGeneral Harm Reduction Program Coordinator), and Nick St. Louis (OPTIONS liaison for Waldo County).
This is the third event in a four-part series in Lincoln County. The final screening will be May 14 in Wiscasset and will focus on substance use prevention.
The series is presented by Studio B, a nonprofit using arts and humanities to foster connection and community healing, and is sponsored by Healthy Lincoln County, which supports public health initiatives and wellness efforts across the region.
