Friendship artist Pam Cabañas at Savory Maine
Savory Maine Restaurant in Damariscotta presents artist Pam Cabañas in a solo exhibition March 23 through May 2. An opening reception is planned for Friday, April 1 from 3-5 p.m. with sweet and savory finger foods. Wine and beer will be available.
Pam Cabañas is well known throughout Midcoast Maine for her dramatic works in pastel, charcoal, and ink wash. Cabañas is a dedicated painter both in the studio and en plein air. Loading her skiff with camera, easels and supplies, she wanders thru the tides exploring the remote islands of Muscungus Bay.
The exhibition will include selections of large pastel paintings and moody ink wash studies inspired by the dramatic landscapes uncovered as the tide ebbs, as well as fanciful pastel paintings of the iconic spring flora all Mainers await, and of course — the birds! She will treat us to selected works depicting yet another of her favorite subjects, the gulls and the black-capped chickadees that are so much a part of our coastal Maine experience.
Cabañas holds a BFA from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University and a master’s degree from the University of New Mexico.
She has lived and worked in Friendship for about 14 years.
Pam Cabañas is represented by the Jonathan Frost gallery in Rockland.
