An early evening social gathering was held at the home of Linda Belmont to welcome new members to the Garden Club of Wiscasset on Oct. 21. Brief information about each committee was given and each new member was presented with a trowel from Ames True Value in Wiscasset.

The club meets next on Nov. 7 at First Congregational Church, 28 High St. in Fellowship Hall. There will be flower design practice at 11:30 a.m. with the theme “Ikebana.” There is a business meeting at 12:30 p.m. and our program at 1 p.m. on “Ikebana” will be presented by Sandra Leonard, an accredited Master Flower Show judge and member of Boothbay Region Garden Club. She studied the art of Ikebana design in Japan and North Carolina. Refreshments follow the program and the public is invited free of charge.
