Ghost Train returns to haunt Boothbay Railway Village
On Friday and Saturday, Oct. 26 and 27 the Boothbay Railway Village will once again be cloaked in mystical moonlight and creepy candlelight for the Ghost Train.
Just once a year the ghouls and goblins come out to haunt the otherwise peaceful Boothbay Railway Village. Passengers will journey through enchanted cemeteries, see zombies and other ghastly things, hear the calls of strange beasts and experience other unimaginable apparitions.
Unsuspecting visitors must enter the haunted station to board the Ghost Train, if they dare. Witches and other monsters will assist the engineer and train crew with departures every 30 minutes. The first two trains at 4:30 and 5 p.m. are perfect for tiny tots. The trips leaving at 5:30, 6, and 6:30 will be a bit spookier as the sun sets. For older kids, plan to travel with us at 7, 7:30 or 8 when the creepy crawlies and sinister spooks will travel right on board the train with you and things will get scarier.
Guests are encouraged to dress up and bring along their own trick or treat bag. Your ticket is a passport and will guide you around the Village for trick or treating. Passengers should arrive and be ready to board the train at least 15 minutes prior to your preferred departure time. The train ride is only one part of a Ghost Train experience. It lasts approximately 15 minutes but we recommend allowing 1 hour to do all the other activities, which you may do in any order. The activities will be open from 4:15 to 8 p.m. Purchase your tickets at the gate: $8 ages 3 and up, free for children under 3, $5 for Museum Members.
Volunteers and donations are needed to support the fun. If you’d like to help haunt the Village contact Caleb Hodgdon at 207-380-9278. Donations may be mailed to Boothbay Railway Village, P.O. Box 123, Boothbay, Maine 04357. Please indicate Ghost Train along with your contribution. Donations greater that $100 will receive four complimentary Ghost Train tickets. Proceeds from Ghost Train support the Museum, which is a 501(c) (3) non-profit.
