Chuck Cunningham, wrapped in cellophane, and store manager Nick Lachapelle were inside the Boothbay Harbor Hannaford Sept. 29 making customers smile and collecting donations for United Way. Cunningham, the evening operations manager, volunteered to get wrapped up for a good cause. He’s heading up the UW fundraising for the store this year, and if enough money was raised between 4 and 6 p.m. he’d be unwrapped. Cunningham said some customers were giving generously, while others jokingly told him they’d just as soon he stay wrapped up. Lachapelle said Cunningham was the perfect person for the job, as he is widely known in the community. “The smiles have been awseome.” SUZI THAYER/Boothbay Register
