Glow purple for Domestic Violence Awareness Month
In anticipation of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October, New Hope for Women encourages businesses and homeowners to come together and show support for people living in abusive relationships.
You can show your support by displaying strands of purple lights in your business, home, or church through the month of October. New Hope for Women will lend lights to businesses and organizations, and can provide homeowners with information about where they can purchase lights.
Domestic violence is a systematic pattern of power and control perpetuated by one intimate partner against another. It includes emotional abuse, psychological, sexual, and physical violence. It affects individuals in every community, regardless of age, economic status, sexual orientation, gender, race, religion, or nationality. It can result in physical injury and even death.
Let victims know that they are not alone. Join with New Hope for Women in standing against this violence. For more information about glowing purple, call New Hope for Women at 1-800-522-3304.
New Hope for Women offers support to people in Sagadahoc, Lincoln, Knox, and Waldo counties affected by domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking. It also provides important educational resources to assist our communities in creating a safer and healthier future.
