Jane Karker, president of Maine Authors Publishing, will be teaching a free marketing course for independent writers on Saturday, Nov. 4 from 12:15 to 2:00 p.m. at the Maine Authors Publishing office in Thomaston.

In “The Gradual Yes Method of Sales for Authors,” learn where and how to market your independently published book for the best sales results. Get ideas for marketing your book, building an author platform, building relationships with bookstores, and using social media, as well as how networking with other authors can drive better sales. Using the media and internet to market your books is a crucial part of this marketing discussion. This class is for published authors as well as writers who have not yet published.

Karker lives in Maine and is the owner and president of Maine Authors Publishing & Cooperative. With over 20 years of experience in the publishing and printing industry, Karker teaches ways to affordably produce, publish, and market books for independently published authors. She has taught courses in independent publishing all over New England and helped over 200 authors market their work.
